The Foundation was established by the Schedels in 1963 to protect and preserve their estate for the enjoyment of present and future generations.

      The foundation was formed by the Schedels in 1963 in order to preserve and share the legacy started by Joseph and Marie Schedel who had no children. The main purpose is to promote and maintain the arboretum and gardens for the enjoyment and education of residents of the region and beyond.
