Art Exhibits
| Barry Woods Johnston – Approximately 10 of this internationally known sculptor’s bronze pieces will be on display, located throughout the gardens. Pieces range from 20” high to life size. Mr. Johnston has received numerous prizes, most recently the National Arts Club President’s Award, the Allied Artists of America Leonard J. Meiselman Award, and the Audubon Artists Gold Medal of Honor. Mr. Johnston brings to his work a daring imagination. Subjects are derived from religion, literature, and contemporary dilemmas. Mr. Johnston is known for capturing energized form and anatomy in motion with robust, gravity-defying figures. He brings a keen eye for realism to his numerous portrait commissions. Dennis Wojtkiewicz of the BGSU School of Fine Arts, Chris Ryan (Ohio), Phil Jackson (Mississippi) and Jason Lewis (Pennsylvania) will be exhibiting in the McAlear Gallery from June 6 through July 31. All 4 of these artists are graduates of the Bowling Green State University MFA Painting program and are all described as realists with an emphasis on precision and detail. An Opening Reception will be held on Sunday, June 6 from 2:00 until 4:00 in the afternoon in the Brown Welcome Center. June 1 through July 31, the painters of the Athena Art Society will again be exhibiting in the Trellis Gallery |
