Biblical Horticulture, lead by Master Gardener and Schedel Volunteer Elaine Mylander. Was that mysterious fruit in the Garden of Eden really an apple? The writers of the Bible knew that people could best visualize unimaginable things by means of things they know. That is why in telling stories of God's mysteries, they used common items that we can see, touch, smell or taste to point out truths that are beyond our experience. Jesus and the prophets before him often referred to plant materials as symbols when they were teaching. The people, being herdsman and farmers, could easily relate to the plants they knew so well. |
