The Schedel Arboretum and Gardens is an operation of the Joseph J. and Marie P. Schedel Foundation, a non-profit, 501(c)(3) public foundation.

This mission is realized by offering a setting that provides a beautiful and tranquil venue for guests of all ages and backgrounds to:
- enjoy premier educational, cultural, social, and leisure opportunities,
- further their understanding of, and appreciation for, nature and the enduring relationship between plants and people
- expand their appreciation for things of a cultural nature
- partake of educational opportunities relating to nature and the arts
- utilize this unique setting for groups to conduct meetings, workshops, training sessions, retreats, bonding exercises, religious ceremonies, fundraisers, and other such activities, where a tranquil, upscale setting is desired
- provide a venue for indoor or outdoor social events such as weddings, receptions, reunions, parties, dinners,
- engage in learning and research activities often in cooperation with schools and institutions of higher learning,
- raise and administer resources to make these things possible.
